Stockyards with a View...

Today Farmer George and I had to shift the 'young Girls' from one runoff to the other ( around 4 k's) before they left the got a dose of drench to keep them healthy .. FG is very proud of these Stockyards that he had to rebuild a couple of years ago.. All went well until 2/3rds the way round when a dog came out a 'spooked' the calves and they refused to go past this spot .. For 45 minutes we tried to get them moving and then we were joined by the neighbours dog who also 'got in the way' .. I opened the door on the ute and said..' Comeon I will take you home'.. He hoped in the drivers seat .. lucky when I got him back to his house found his lead to tie him up .. back to my job and they still would not pass the barking dogs ..Lucky there is an alternate way so had to back track and go the other way .. what should of been a 11/2 hour job took us 3 hours ... pleased to get them in the gate and shut it behind them ...
Great view. What a pain having to backtrack because of those dogs!

sounds very frustrating. The landscape is very green though, that must be good!

Great looking corrals and chutes. As in any cattle operation, something unexpected almost always happens.

Beautiful stick yards Julz, FG is rightly proud. You do need yards like this when you aren’t near the home farm. They must be very healthy cattle up there in that pure air! I feel for you driving them up there though & all the hassle!

I can see you are on a lovely high plateau here. Blooming dogs - where did they come from. Surely if from a farm, they would be tied up!

@maggiemae The two that startled the calves first were behind a gate but they are not 'farm dogs' so just yapped.. the one I gave a ride home was going to their 'other' farm he was more polite and just in the rode ..
