Yorkshire Sheperdess...

A few weeks back Pat @happypat said how she met Amanda Owen The Yorkshire Shepherdess at an Ag Show.. After googling her I thought that is the sort of book I would like to read.. @dide and I were out and about and I was telling her about it ( as cousins we are of the same Yorkshire heritage) Dianne got on her 'Fishpond' site and within minutes she had a copy of one of her books ordered for me.. So finally getting around to starting it .. Don't think I would complain about farming life in our mild climes ever again ..

Oh how lovely Julz! Amanda Owen is very well known in the UK so really glad you have chance to read all about her & Clive & their amazing family. It’s a pretty bleak & wild spot they live in but stunning countryside! There are a good few TV programmes you should be able to get hold of too, if you can’t I will bring one of with me next year! Enjoy!

There have been tv programs about Amanda Owen and her family farming in Yorkshire. I think it’s the six children that amaze me growing up on the farm all helping out - even the little ones! Fascinating Story! A hard life!

Yep @pamknowler 9 kids that seem to be pretty independent from a very young age .. and the older ones have to spend 4 hours on the school bus a day ..

Sounds like an interesting book. Being a Yorkshire lass myself I may look it up. I wasn't from a farming family though, but David's lot were farmers only they were in Herefordshire and Wales.

I’m from Yorkshire stock although haven’t been there except driving through on a bus. It sounds like an interesting book, I’ll look out for it
