Siegessäule from Bus 100

Because of the extra long season of cold, snowy, and wet weather in Berlin this year, it's meant traveling mostly via the underground. It's like being a mole, burrowing under the city and popping up at various stations, then going back down to move to another destination. But on a sunny day, a bus trip on the infamous Bus 100 double decker offered views of the city above ground, including Siegessäule, the Victory Column. I wish I had known earlier that you could climb up it and see a view of Tiergarten from the viewing platform.
I really do look forward to meeting you there or traveling together. Maybe not in winter, though!

@taffy -- I'll be a good tour guide, and yes, preferably not winter. Or the kind of spring we had this year!

What a magnificent monument. I had to google it and find out about it. I have been to Germany 3 times, but never to Berlin. Hope to make amends one day!

@fishy -- I have a tendency to write long narratives because I get so interested in finding out about my photos I want everyone else to know, too. I hd to resist the temptation to write about this monument here but I'm glad you were interested enough to look it up. Three times to Germany and no Berlin? Yes, it should be on your next trip! I typically spend my time in Munich every year and there, you can see the Friedensengel, a golden angle on a column.
