An Installation of Umbrellas by jyokota

An Installation of Umbrellas

My friends took me to the Textile Museum in Augsberg, A rainy day, people spontaneously placed their umbrellas to dry just inside the door, creating somewhat of an artistic installation of sorts.

This week, the August Book Club is considering Principles and Working with Visual Design, in particular, considering the role of tension and how photographers create tension in an image through the way they control balance in the visual space. Initially, I saw this version of my photos as flawed as it has an out of focus person in the background -- someone who had walked into my planned photo of only capturing the umbrellas. But upon scrutiny and reflection on the concepts in this week's readings, I see that this is the photo with more tension depicted rather than the one I took of only the umbrellas. In a sense, she serves as the handle of an upside down umbrella shape (if you really stretch your imagination to see this wide rectangular shape as an umbrella!).
How cool! Love all the colors!

What a great capture. I quite like the figure with the yellow umbrella, as your eye travels over the umbrellas there she is at the end.

What fun!! Never heard of a place that would allow something like this.

Really good shot. I like your interpretation. The person in the background works really well.

Nice capture, the haphazard directions the umbrellas matches all the different materials and patterns.
