@Taffy and I were outside in this frigid air for only five minutes. Strange how it affected the image, making it seem almost other-worldly and not real. We caught a glimpse of this view from the parking structure, so we re-parked the car, and shot, protected from being out in the open. What were we thinking? That it would be a good evening for a photo walk?
I do love how this one came out and am envious as none of mine captured the purple we saw that you've caught here. And the otherworldly feel is so true to the very real scene we froze to snap!
Fav! The light is amazing. I see this a few times a year as I drive back along the Eisenhower. I think it looks other-wordly because we are so used to the blur from smog.
@amandal@agedrunner@joemuli -- we were less brave than we were stupid, as we later noted ourselves. What were we thinking? Oh, I know -- those crazily beautiful frozen images of Lake Michigan that we've seen on the media that we wanted to capture for ourselves. I'll bet those photographers were smarter than we were in how they were dressed for the weather!
Thank you all for your perceptive comments, your generous favs, and for appreciating the effort it took to get this image. I was so surprised to find that magic email from Alexis that tells us it's on Popular Page :)
@jyokota@anwan@danielwsc Annette and I were emailing a little earlier...I'm up for it (nice to relax today), including going early-ish -- think taking the redline makes the most sense. Jim said he'd drive us over to it (he may not remember that promise but we can hold him to it).
