Established in 1813 and moved into this location in 1925, the National Library of Chile includes the national archives. The exterior of the building is quite impressive, and the functionality has changed with the times as you see traditionally archived libraries such as this one as well as digital materials access in a glassed-in area of computer terminals.
I started to lighten this photo more, but then, I recalled how dark it had been in there and decided to keep it as close to the original feel as possible. It gives it more of a sense of the place.
Having just looked at a similar shot by @Taffy I just had to look at the coloured version Junko. You image is simply stunning with the soaring ceiling, painted panels and wonderful woodwork all contributing to a real sense of place. The richness of colour in this shot changes the feel of the room surprisingly much from Taffy's b&w. Both are fantastic shots, and I'd be hard put to choose between them. Primus inter pares - and vice versa??
