An entire museum dedicated to the development of an "alphabet" ??? Yes! Korea has the good fortune to have had the great King Sejong of the Joseon Dynasty who in 1443 changed the entire writing system of the country so that everyone could be literate, not just the royals, intellects and upper class. Blocks formed by a combination of 24 consonants and vowels represent syllables, and the writing system is practical and the typeface aesthetically beautiful.
The museum told the history, development, and contemporary use of hanged, showed beautiful examples, and had numerous interactive components where children played and learned. This boy found the ribbons of hanguel writing streaming down across a doorway. The single item of MOST interest to children? The typewriter! About 10 - 20 children were constantly hovering around it.
This is a really stunning composition. And the subtle details of the folds in the drapery with the characters on it is effective. It's also a sweet portrait/candid.
