@vstap@hippiechick13@squamloon@eyesmile -- thanks for your comments! @rosiekerr -- I just realized at what you said that @Taffy was probably off to the left of this image, trying to get down from a scary place she had climbed up to! You can see the footpath at the bottom, about a third of the way in from the right. There's a rock in the path. Actually, now that I'm looking closer, I think I see Taffy's tripod on the left side!
@rosiekerr Sorry for the long comment and not answering your question, but yes, you're right, a person would give scale here. I'll see if I have another one with someone in it.
@jyokota I am just teasing a bit.... I am not sure it is worth the twisted ankle just to "provide scale," and I am laughing at the idea of anyone scrambling around to get the good shot, regardless of the consequences. Still, the colors and textures here are tremendously rich.
@rosiekerr@jyokota OMG!!! That is when I was scrambling down on my behind, since it was too slippery to stand up. That is my tripod! See how awful the path was??? Not my finest decision-making.
@pamknowler@taffy@rosiekerr -- WE did have to do some climbing to get here, but it was so worth it. Most people stand in the parking lot with their tripods facing this view, but there's a clearly marked footpath to get into the rocky area. I had misunderstood the previous day when the instructors had said we were going "to the other side about two miles" and thought we were going over a mountain so on this day, James offered to take me "over the mountain" and a few of us took him up on the offer.
It looks like you hit a turquoise mine there! Beautiful colors....I would have definitely been out there scrambling on those rocks....and, the only thing I would be worrying about would be the camera! ;-)
