At Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary on a Shutterbug Walkabout. I had a half an hour private time playing with one! Anyone who knows me understands that this is a surprising thing since I'm scared of most animals, including dogs. I can't believe how real this image looks -- so real it doesn't look real. I mean, who sees wombats like this?
@tibles -- Bonorong Wildlife Reserve just on the outskirts of Hobart -- have you been there?
@annied -- you would have loved Bonorong Wildlife Reserve -- and since you have held wombats you know how cute they are. And having heard me talk at the zoo about my lack of affinity for animals you will be surprised to hear how much fun I had playing with a wombat in my lap for half an hour!

I'm not really an animals person but between my visit to Sydney Zoo with @annied and this visit to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, I have had a lovely visit with Australian animals! I got to hold a baby wombat for a half an hour in a wildlife encounter as part of a Shutterbug Walkabout. Highly recommended if you get to Tasmania! I'll be posting more photos from there, no doubt. Tasmanian devils, frog mouthed owls, wallabies, and more.
@taffy -- I know, from first glance, I agree. But wombats are really cute in how they wobble around and they are very sweet as babies. Can you believe -- knowing my aversion of animals other than Nutmeg -- that I played with one??? Held it in my lap??? Might have to post that photo taken of me.
How sweet is he! I have never seen a wombat Junko yet alone played with one! What an exciting trip you are having! I just can't keep up with your travels! What an exciting life you lead! Fav for this cutie!
i had the joy of scratching Ringo today - a wombat close to my heart...he had a sleepover as a baby...this one is soooo cute
