Truly a magical experience. The PhotoVoyagers took me to this cave entrance that had a sign in Greek outside it, and in handwritten English, it said, "Death Awaits You." The two photographers took out a rope, and said I could decide not to go down at any point. One went down first, and told me not to look to the right as I was lowered using a rope. Of course I took a quick peak to the right, and it was pitch black and a giant hole. But I made it! (of course they carried my gear and helped me all the way so it was only due to their help.). Standing in awe, considering the life of a 500BC sculptor who was banned from his island and sent away in a boat, you couldn't help but be amazed that this relief had been so well preserved. Sadly, the stalactites and stalagmites had been broken due to vandalism, and the religious carvings had been destroyed as well. One of the photographers is on the left, lighting the back wall so you get a sense of the depth.
You're very brave to do all that Junko, but you certainly reaped a rich reward for your effort. Why on earth would someone break stuff in a place like that? I just don't get it.
