First Snow of the Season by jyokota

First Snow of the Season

On the last day of October. The momiji Japanese maple my friend planted in memory of my mother, still with autumn red leaves.
That poor wee tree, but a lovely image.

Being English, I love the snow, of course! But then we rarely get any. Gorgeous image and I smiled at the resilient little red Japanese maple. We have one in our front garden, which was a wedding gift from friends. They do make wonderful long lasting gifts of beauty for special things. Lovely that your friend planted that for your mum.

Always fascinating for me to see scenes like this because I've never seen them before in real life. Love the way the snow is layered on the plants.

Thank you for sharing photos of the seasons with those of us who don't get those photo opportunities down here in South Florida!

The porch lighting looks real nice with the snow and touch of red. Looks like more snow than I'd like this early.

It's just beautiful, with the colors popping through the snow. I like the 'peak' at your front entrance too.

@ukandie1 - hahaha! we were having really warm days before this. funny thing was, the day after i posted my comment, it snowed here for the first time this season, but not as much as this.

@summerfield last fall was unseasonably warm, this fall is basically winter! Toronto and Chicago are not that far apart, so you know the weather is never predictable, kind of love it!

I love your Mum's little tree - it is fabulous against the snow. :)
