I hadn't heard of Frank Lloyd, so I looked him up. His architecture and design is so beautiful. Lovely lines. I like the way you have captured this. Those chairs seem so tall. I think if I sat on one, I would look like Alice in Wonderland after she shrank!
@casablanca -- the chairs ARE tall and very straight -- looks rather uncomfortable to me, and yes, we would all look like we'd shrunk! Do you know the work of FLW contemporary in Scotland, Charles Rennie Mackintosh?
@casablanca -- many years ago, the Chicago Art Institute had an exhibition showing the work of these two great architects and I became fascinated with how their work had parallels yet in that time period they only knew the other existed but not much more than that. My husband and I did a CRM pilgrimage one year and drove all around Scotland visiting CRM sites.
Fabulous image! I love Frank Lloyd-Wright! I remember one of the buildings we went in on the Chicago Archtecture tour (the spiral staircase) had some FLW design. Next visit I must get to his house!
fabulous symmetry! we had a magical experience visiting falling water in pennsylvania a few years ago - never to be forgotten. we stayed in a preserved flw house where you were allowed to spend the weekend, but do no cooking, and you had to clear out and hide your stuff away between 11 and 4 so that tours could visit ;)
@pistache My husband grew up near Falling Water so that was one of the first places we went to together. Fond memories of that beautiful house and setting. We have a puzzle of that house and it's really hard because the pieces seem so interchangeable! I've never stayed in one of his houses before so that must have been a cool experience. Oh, you and @casablanca know how to pick those places to stay!
