Standing at the door before entering this beautifully star-filled room, surrounded by mirrors to make the sky seem endless. Peter Sís was awarded a Caldecott Honor Award for his book, Starry Messenger, and this was taken at his exhibition in Prague.
@kclaire You did! I agree -- completely magical. How did you happen to go to this exhibition? Did you travel to Prague just to see the exhibit, like I did?
@jyokota Yes, I travelled to Prague just to see the exhibit. However, I must point out that it certainly didn´t require as much effort from me as it did from you - the distance between my home and Prague is only 100 kilometers. I don't go there very often, but I always try to visit interesting exhibitions.
I love Petr Sís´ work. My "first" of his books was The Wall but I also like The Conference of the Birds very much.
It was a big surprise to meet Petr Sís here and to do so in such a great photo.
@kclaire I've known Petr for decades and I was actually supposed to meet him at the exhibit so he could bring the art home to NY but the exhibit was extended after I had already purchased my ticket so he introduced me to the exhibit organizers and his agent and I ended up having a lovely time in Prague. Too bad I didn't know you then because I was looking for someone to do a photowalk in Prague. I was on the Caldecott Committee that awarded him an honor for this particular book. When you say you met Petr do you mean through the exhibit itself or did you actually meet him? He's a wonderful person...
@jyokota I mean here in the 365 project through your photo :-)
There are so many photos here from all around the world and suddenly something familiar appeared here, it was a nice surprise.
@kclaire Well we should stay in touch then because who knows -- Petr and I may end up in Prague together at another time and you can meet him in person. I loved my few days in Prague, and I hadn't been there since 2003 so I long to return. Next time I will take my camera -- I didn't have but my iPhone with me so I ended up renting a camera for one day.
Thank you all for your supportive comments and favs. It was a moment I wanted to remember. The exhibit, the friendship, the book -- and the moment of standing in that room. I was happy that the mirrored background gave me an opportunity to remember me being in that magical space.
It's kind of funny that while I seldom takes selfies, I currently have two selfies in the trending stream . . .
