It's interesting how suddenly everyone is using zoom for social contact. I've used it in my online teaching and for long-distance work meetings, but never for social gatherings before the pandemic has required we all stay inside, isolated. One such zoom meeting was the Caldecott committee from 5 years ago. Then, we talked books, but now we talked recipes. Since I hadn't bought baking ingredients in over two years and didn't even have normal flour, Bradley guided us throughout the process by looking up different protein levels of the flours I did have in order to explain how I could successfully substitute by mixing two kinds of flours. But molasses? I have two bottles, and spices, I have some of every kind imaginable. And because I put ginger in everything I cut up my Costco sized ginger bag and put ginger on top of these molasses cookies. Here, I show the 7-minute version in the front, and the 8 and 9 minute versions in the back. I froze most of them for the day I might be able to have company again.
Sounds great! Funnily enough, I had never used Zoom before but my choir is using it now to rehearse. It is bonkers because of the lag so,it is impossible to keep in time together, but it is so funny! I would like to eat these biscuits!
They look delicious! Love how you made do with what you had.
I set up Zoom yesterday and talked with my daughter-in-law and grandchildren. It was wonderful! Grandson Marshall showed me his latest poem for his poetry project and got to see his uncle Brandon for the first time in years. Maria will use it for classes next week when LSU resumes.
is it crunchy on the outside and chewy soft on the inside? that's my favourite cookie. those look sumptuous i could swallow my screen! lovely presentation, aces!
Clever you adapting the recipe to produce these yummy cookies. We are using a group WhatsApp for each of our families. It’s so nice to be able to keep in touch easily now that visiting is off. Stay busy and safe!
Super! Bradley sounds like someone I need to know, i am always trying to adapt English baking recipes to US ingredients with different levels of success, due to flour (hardness and softness) and butter (levels of fat), but I am getting there! These look like a kind of cookie I would enjoy very much :)
So funny -- I was looking at the photo and not at who posted and thought, "I recognize that pattern!" The cookies look so yummy! When this is all over, we'll have to make them again so you can teach me how.
@Weezilou -- and the danger of making them when you are alone is that you could eat them all -- but I froze most, and take out two at a time :) Everything I eat should have ginger in it. So I buy the enormous bag at Costco.
