@joansmor I've never even heard of such, and I LOVE eggnog. Switched to almond milk eggnog this year, though. It's all gone for this year so I'll have to try next year.
@jyokota@joansmor I made eggnog bread last week. It is so good! I’ve also made egg custard with eggnog instead of milk. So rich and so good. I only make these desserts after Christmas when I have leftover eggnog. Just can’t throw it out. These hitches are on Royal Street in the French Quarter in NOLA I think. I love your POV. This also reminds me of the uneven curbs and sidewalks there, you have to pay attention when you are walking!
@jyokota I have problems if I drink or eat too much dairy but find Lactaid products help a little so it has been Lactaid eggnog. The Instacart shopper ignored my instruction to substitute another lactose-free eggnog and brought regular eggnog. So I went in search of something I could bake with it. Something easy. You can find a recipe for anything on the internet. THe recipe call for adding dried cranberries but I can't eat those either.
@joansmor I didn't even know Lactaid made product other than those little pills! (But I also have not gone to a grocery store much in the past 25 years and not at all in the last 9 months). The Instacart shopping depends so much on how well the shopper knows the store I've found. You can order heavy cream and get kefir as long as the brand is then same. But in these days, you're so lucky to have groceries delivered that you just have to find recipes for those substitutions as you did. I baked a kefir cake, made kefir pancakes, and kefir smoothies. I'm keenly interested in eggnog bread @louannwarren but this year I only had a quart of almond eggnog so I quickly used that up in making eggnog coffee -- my usual Starbucks treat back when we used to go to Starbucks. @joansmor I'm sorry you can't have cranberries either! My food intolerance is allium -- garlic onion, chives, etc. so it's hard to eat at restaurants but it doesn't impact my baking.
@louannwarren I think you're right and definitely in the French Quarters. I used to go to NOLA at least once a year, and immediately after Katrina I went once a month. Always on business so little time to do photography. But on this particular occasion I had taken a photo-walk-tour that lasted a couple of hours in the French Quarters so we got history, culture, and stops for photography along the way. I posted some photos when I initially took them in Jan 2018.
@jyokota I have a partially blocked bowel due to radiation treatment for cancer. You know cancer is the gift that keeps on giving. I live on a very beige diet - no fresh fruit or veggies.
@joansmor A while back I posted an "all-beige lunch" so you could have been a guest that day! I'm sorry to hear about your cancer but your forward-facing spirit shows in your photography and involvement in 365. And next year, I'm making that eggnog bread!
