Ice Pancakes on a Gray Day by jyokota

Ice Pancakes on a Gray Day

Soooo cold, sooooo windy, but fun capture of ice pancakes. This phenomenon occurs as the lake starts to freeze and the wind causing waves bumps around the freezing surface causing waterlily-like edges. So foggy that you can't even see the top half of the Sears Tower!

Fascinating. Also interesting that the iPhone version picked up some pink in the sky

I like this composition better but the ice looks just a tad green/ gray. Wonder re bringing up the whites a bit and the tint towards magenta…maybe masking out the sky?

I like the wide angle version but both of them really capture the unusual formations well.

Great capture. Still like this view with the closer view of the city in the background.
