Taken from the airplane window of Qatar Airlines. International travel continues to be iffy on many levels. Three days prior to my trip, I was denied a visa to enter my home country of Japan for overnight transit. So Qatar Airlines rescued me by routing me through Doha. I am entirely impressed by the level of service of this airlines! My original flights on American/Japan Airlines would have taken me 35 hours but on Qatar my flights were a total of 23 hours.
What a fantastic view and capture from the plane. Does overnight transit mean you would be landing and leaving the next day (just a layover)? Gosh you would think being a Japanese citizen you wouldn’t be denied. Thank goodness the airline went the extra mile to figure it out for you. Safe travels …. Do you have duel citizenship?
@lesip -- just a layover but it required leaving the airport because Narita closes at midnight. I've changed my citizenship to US after my daughter was born because you aren't allowed to have dual citizenship between US and Japan, unfortunately. But Japan will always be my home country and where I will always be "from"
@blueberry1222 -- Japan requires a visa for everyone who does not have a Japanese passport and I changed my citizenship decades ago when my daughter was born. Although they are beginning to loosen the rules a bit, they are still very strict and denied me a transit visa. I just spent 12 hours in Narita airport, trapped inside the transit area and unable to see family and friends or even shop in the airport mall outside of immigration area.
Doha is all golden!
