I know this doesn't hold up to the kind of spectacular bird photography I see daily on this site (I don't even know what kind of bird it is but it flashed a lovely yellow when flying), but for me, it's a rare capture so I wanted to save it in my album. Some day, I will work on improving my bird photography skills!
I disagree.I think this is a fabulous capture!Close and detailed.Birds are hard to photograph! Now that my insects are gone, when winter comes birds will be my focus and if I can get this close and detailed I will be thrilled. This is one of my favorite birds. It us a Pheobe. So called because of her call.Feeee Beeeee .She is migrating as the bulk of her diet is insects. But perhaps she will snack on one of these juniper berries.I am blessed to have one that builds a nest under the eaves if my cabin each spring.Lovely capture Junko!
Junko, this is a beautiful capture. I know what you mean about bird shots but here you had the evergreen in front, that otherwise the focus would had been directly on the bird.
I would like to point out that you have the beautiful cypressy evergreen in front AND you have both in focus (I love how it looks like it's playing with you), plus bokeh, plus the colors and expression are all on point. It's a lovely bird. I'm faving it! :)
I agree with other comments - it's a great shot - beautifully focused, a great mix of soft colours and shades, pretty bokeh and not over-processed. Full marks I think!
THANK YOU for your very generous assessment of the photo!! This bird was so tiny in my original photo, taken with the 50mm, that I had to zoom in to find it, knowing it was in there somewhere. I cropped from a tiny spot so I could share the image.
@mzzhope -- thanks for all the wonderful information! I changed the title to include the name.
