we removed that broken window today and put a sliding door in, not sure about it, now i have to rearrange everything to change the flow path through the room! that window light is what i use to do all my stillifes at the table...
i think when we get to a certain age we find change hard, but in a year you will love your sliding door, funny we replaced the dogs chair with something less tatty so far he has refused to sit on it and has taken to barking at it. hope you are not barking at the door...
I wonder if resistance to change becomes more acute as we age due to the increased connections we develop with things? Anyway, this self portrait is very much in the style of Ms. Jerrems. I like how you seem to be just stopped in a thought or are about to say something. I like this a great deal. You caught her stop in the midst of an action or pause in communication with someone style very well. Fav.
I have to say that I much prefer coming to 365 project than reading the news these days. Here is a much happier place, and, honestly, this is where real life exists.
I don't know Mrs. Carol Jerrems enough (I did never hear of her before the Artist Challenge, I have ignorantly to admit). But I agree on @joysabin 's comment about the suspended moment you caught in this photo. And how the hard light adds to this!
When I read flow, I suddenly remembered a Dutch song, which I hadn't heard for many many years, 'Ik heb een steen verlegd, in een rivier op aarde', translated like 'I moved a stone in a river on earth, the water will go a different way, you can't stop the flow of a river, it will always finds its way'.
that is great, yes everything will settle into a new pattern for sure, we have some land where we have been camping for 20 years and the river decided to take a new course and took all our camping gear out to sea! so i know the feeling well haha
@jack4john@blueberry1222 i do like the fact there is a door there more than i thought i would, but geeze, i shouldnt let my partner loose on diy, i relented after a few years of the door sitting there and him saying i was putting the mockers on it, and now i will just let the results speak for themselves lol
I like the sense of having dropped in on a moment in time where some movement is about to happen. The lighting is great. Enjoy your door! We replaced a door simply changing it from one that open to a sliding one -- and even that changed the way the room could be set up.
@kali66 :-)
I've tried to apply the rule - if you want to add something new you have throw something out.
Still my mom asked me recently - do you ever throw something out. I do, a lot actually!
@kali66 I just love the work I've seen of yours. You truly capture a mood in many of your photographs. I apologize for getting to you so late with the Get Pushed challenge! We are visiting Florida and the internet has been a bit spotty. In fact, I won't be able to post any photos until I return to my family's house on Thursday! In the meantime we will be briefly visiting the free part of Disney, "The Most Magical Place on Earth". For this challenge, I thought I would challenge you to photograph something magical in whatever way you decide to interpret that. I hope this works! Thank you as well for the challenge you gave me. I have some ideas for that when I visit Legoland later this week! Thanks again!
Passage of time - youth and age, delicate curtains and dress, serious expression - the person's face (you) suggests heavy emotions - contrasting with lightness of dress and curtains - which is arresting - not an easy portrait - powerful .
