when I saw this baby pink camelia today at my friend's place I just knew it was the one. I love the sculptural forms of these nice compact ones as they unfurl. I am not fond of pink so it was a great candidate for conversion to black and white . cropping was a bit tricky, had to be tight, i dithered around with it for ages. And did i ever tell you I love dodging and burning? lol
Stunning black and white, Kali! You did a great job with dodge and burn. I have to admit I don't use the potential of that tool very much. Seeing this picture, I got the motivation to learn the tool and use it often. FAV!
@pam1 I did the black and white conversion in raw, but once I had cropped it there were extraneous things out towards the corners that needed darkening and some highlights around the outside needed dimming so that they didn't dominate, I also used it in the centre to bring out the contrast in that crucial area

Kali, I see what you mean. I use D&B all the time for exactly the reasons you point out. It is a great way to highlight and give contrast to edges.
