Wonderful! I know exactly what you mean about setting the objects up for a still life. It never looks natural! I am sure that there must be a formula for doing it :o)
@mzzhope i feel clunky stting out the objects for a still life, took a while to find a composition I liked. nice exercise. I had Marika's work in mind, especially this one http://365project.org/mariyakey/365/2013-10-27 but somehow can't manage the totally dreamy look she gets. this is more me I suppose :)
@megstorey that is my one spot where I grow just flowers, or at least let them self-seed, the rest of the garden is more for edibles, although i do mix the two for effect, you will see more as the season progresses I am sure
Oh,this is just beautiful,Kali. The light shining on the flower and hat is lovely contrasting with the dark tones of the rock( wall?) behind. The butterfly is the cherry on top. This composition/ set up does not look clunky at all.Looks like you just dropped your hat to go get a drink of water.:) I love it.A fav!
What a great challenge, and what a great way to meet it! Your compiled still life is beautifully descriptive, and enlarged, that butterfly really "sings" in your picture. I also like how your orange flowers burst beyond the border!
