The temperature reached nearly 80 degrees today under clear skies and only a mild breeze. Local families headed to Colt State Park for a variety of outdoor activities. One such couple is seen here taking advantage of the low tide and digging for clams on a sandy shoal. They, and about a dozen other clammers, ignored the "Removal of Shellfish Prohibited" sign at the entrance to this inlet.
I opted to stick with the black and white theme again today. While the color version was quite vivid, I thought the monochrome image set a much better mood for the scene. I applied a Topaz Adjust "photo pop" filter, and then adjusted the lighting to lighten the background a bit while preserving the overall quality of the subjects. A black and white gradient map was added in color blend mode, followed by a sepia photo filter. A levels adjustment completed the photo processing. I then added the frame by applying a series of colored rectangular fills to a beveled layer.
@janets Thanks, Janet! I tried the crop a number of different ways before settling on this one. @ladycee Thanks, Connie! You know, I don't think I've gone clamming since I was a kid. I'm assuming shopping at Captain's Catch doesn't count... @stuckinoz Thanks, Janelle! It was tough to resist my normal tendency, which is to zoom in for detail. @steviemichelle Thanks, Stevie! I really like the feel of black and white as well. It seems I've been doing more and more of it as the project progresses.
@shortbuddy Thanks, Gina! You know, that thought crossed my mind when I was taking the shot. I was waiting for someone to challenge me because I was photographing an illegal activity. LOL

Thanks for reminding me to "look at the big picture."
