Fog on the River by kannafoot

Fog on the River

This was not the shot I had planned for today, but when I saw the fog as I crossed the Iway Bridge separating East Providence from Providence I knew I had to stop for the shot. These three tugs are docked here every morning but today the fog on the river gave them more of a "working class mariner" feel. At least, that's what I hoped to capture. There is an increasing amount of traffic heading in and out of the Port of Providence, and these tugs manage most of the freighters and barges sailing on the Seekonk River. I've always found tugs to be extremely photogenic, so any excuse to capture these three has to be taken!

Post processing was centered around contrast and preserving the fog. A detail Light filter in Topaz Adjust brought the foreground into sharp focus. A slight levels adjustment in PSE improved the contrast a bit, and I added a sepia photo filter at the end for balance.
Very nice.

I did get the impression the tugs were hard at work, even tho the dock is right there the fog gives a sense of being out at sea
