Local Artist

This cracked and peeling door coupled with the design above the overhang called out to me as I was driving down Water Street this morning. It seemed very fitting that the entrance belonged to a local artist. William Schaff specializes in art that depicts debt and loss, themes that compliment the entrance to his shop quite well. The overall image, though, has a bit of a magical quality to it, and that matches my view of art in general. Art, to me, is the magic that transforms reality into what should have been, and I can see that transformation happening at the entrance to this shop. It's a wonderful scene, tucked away in a quiet corner along Warren's waterfront.

Post processing started with a light grunge filter in Topaz Adjust. I pulled the adaptive exposure down to zero to darken the scene a bit, and also played with the contrast. Strength, Detail, and Sharpen all brought out the lines in the door and the texture of the steps. A very slight levels adjustment in PSE completed the scene.
Very cool find.
