Outdoor Shower

Outdoor Shower

Occasionally, I come across a structure that makes me wonder how future archaeologists will classify it. This is one of them. Obviously, the symmetrical pillars isolating the structure and the wooden canopy placed above it must signify a structure of extreme significance to the society that created it. It is in a central location yet stands alone. Obviously, this structure must have been of extreme religious value to the society, right? Well, not exactly. It's just an outdoor shower. It's been my experience, though, that any structure for which an archaeologist cannot determine a specific function is automatically assigned a religious classification. I've little doubt that the same will be true for this shower, should the ruins of the pillars survive the next thousand years.

Post processing started with a neutral filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-vFbbwDT/0/XL/2014%2012%2026_0006%20copy-XL.jpg
