My daughter is heading back to Germany today after a 9-day visit home. She and I had a heart to heart about her displeasure over Americans' marriage to technology. That is, our inability to fully focus on one another without periodically checking a laptop or iPhone, even referencing my 365 Project usage, which could have been way worse had I been commenting on everyone's photos regularly. Ah, technology - it's brought both the best and the worst into our lives . . .
I'm encouraged that a young person recognizes the pitfalls of technology. I didn't think it was just an American situation, but had captured Europe and Asia as well. For me, I count it a blessing when I forget to bring my phone along. But my camera? Different story.
@mbemis Haha, Mannie. I can totally relate about the camera. :) And, I will say that my observation while in Germany last October, is that Germans are married to their phones while on public transportation. They don't interact with one another on the buses and trains. But, when they are with one another outside of that context, they are more likely to put the gadgets aside and focus on one another.
Gorgeous capture with amazing colors. Fav. I'm impressed that a young one criticized the adult hook up to technology. Normally it's the other way around. And I must say she is right. And we are in fault
Stunning shot. Funny how all our kids see us baking cookies and staying home. I would not know what to do with myself without my computer. My son loves that I am keeping up with tech. things. Go figure lol
So vibrant and rich... lovely silhouettes in your fence line. Your daughter probably has a valid point. I struggle with the pluses and minuses of technology, too. At least I console myself that my only vice is photography... no Facebook for me. :) Still, it's a hydra-headed issue with no easy resolution.
Understand your comments! But 365 is giving me many benefits too, time and place springs to mind! I have made a point of not looking when my family are about. Not easy! Love this image!
It's crazy to see everyone sitting in restaurants with their phones...nobody talks to each other.
