While thinking of my mom who passed away a couple years ago, this cardinal showed up just outside my dining room window. Shortly thereafter, I listened to one of my mom's voicemails from five years ago, urging me to look up Percy Shelley's beautiful poetry. The following poem really struck me:
The flower that smiles to-day
To-morrow dies;
All that we wish to stay
Tempts and then flies.
What is this world’s delight?
Lightning that mocks the night,
Brief even as bright …
What a beautiful way to have a visit from your mother. My mother was crazy about rabbits so whenever I bunny visits my backyard we say that my mother has come for a visit. How did you get that gleam in the cardinal's eye?
I so believe in the Universe talking to us in many different forms. This is truly a magical capture. Love that he looks have a bit a mischievous streak. Fav!
