Turtle

I came home today to find this little gal or guy walking up my driveway.
I'm sure someone out there knows what type of turtle it is.


Oh just to let you all know, I am not going to be posting anything for a week as we are going on vacation but I will post them all when I get home - cant wait!

Looks like an Eastern Painted turtle. If it's claws were not very long (think Wolverine) it's probably a female. :-)

I have seen **so** many "turtle fatalities" on roads this early-summer. :( This one seems covered with grass clippings!

@5unflow3r thanks for that info. The claws were pretty long and I found one digging in my yard a few years ago, picked it up and took it back to the pond across the street. Then I found out they come away from the pond to lay eggs so felt horrible that she'd come all this way only to be taken back LOL
Oh well! Hope this one can lay her eggs!!!

@rhoing yes, this one had to make it across a park and across the street to get to my house. It could move though! I turned my back to get the mail and it was gone!

Lovely skin colours, one can tell it's a turtle as it got water weed attached to it's shell. I am glad you like nature Kim. Enjoy your holiday.
