The Littlest Farm Cat by kerosene

The Littlest Farm Cat

Last night the kids and I went to our favorite Dairy Farm. Although we were a little disappointed the ice cream shop was closed (they had no power), we walked around to visit the animals, which was so much fun - as usual. The pigs and the sheep are usually the favorites, followed by the chickens, the ducks if they are not gallivanting around in the far fields, and finally the cows. Yes, the stars of the show are last on their list!

Last night however, there were two kittens we had never seen before. Since the shop was closed and it was later in the evening, we were pretty much the only ones there - so the kittens were very loving and very much at ease with us. This little sand-colored one actually took to us so much that it walked back to our car with us, and as we pulled away, it sat on the road watching us drive away. It was sad, and I had to explain to the six and three year olds that Trixie (as they named it) would be much happier here on the farm than if we took it home with us...

Oh what a shot. I have trouble understanding why I can't have every animal on earth, so I understand kids. It's so hard for my husband to explain. :-)
