My Studies

This is a small portion of my reading list for this semester's classes.
Applied Statistics, that is the course I should have taken. You missed "How to Lie with Statistics" ;-)

Looks like fun! OK, not really, unless you love statistics ;-)) After I got done with my BA I didn't want to look at books for a while... ;-)

Heavy reading. I'll stick with my novels.

@byrdlip Unfortunately, they weren't offering that course.
@slava It is a good thing I love what I am doing!! I'm enjoying the coursework and the homework.
@pankaj The semester is more like three months. Yes, this is a sliver of all the readings I must do. Many of the readings are articles or online books.
@miata2u I'm hoping the final statistic will be 4.0. :)
@yuliya They really aren't too bad. The course actually seems pretty simple.
@scott333 I'm a month into the semester and so far it doesn't seem too bad. Maybe only 300-400 pages a week and a paper due every Friday. I've already got a Master's Degree so I know to organize and the key is staying organized.
@weshook Reading anything good right now?

That is a brainful there. Wow, best of luck, and keep at it.

@digitalrn Thanks, I've got 5 more years

No problem with idle time here! Good theme shot!
September 28th, 2010
What is your major?
September 28th, 2010
@digitalrn I'm a political science major. I would like to study American political behavior and am particularly interested in voting behavior.
September 28th, 2010
Ugh--that Statistics book looks like a nightmare! Happy reading...(:
September 28th, 2010
Oh my, that's a lot of books!! Just think how much smarter you will be when you are done LOL.
September 28th, 2010
I'll take applied statistics for $100, please!
September 28th, 2010
@chevymom I'm really enjoying several of them!! It is some work but not to be unexpected. After all, I am starting work on a PhD!

@bill_d I think that is exactly what that book cost and I don't like thinking about that!! Do you know how many eegees I could have bought with $100? Or I could have put it towards a new macro lens!!

@kerristephens Not really, I mean, it's okay, but nothing spectacular...The Book of Fate by Brad Meltzer. I just finished a Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson which I found pretty entertaining. I'm thinking of reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson next, but may change my mind by the time I finish the current one.

@weshook They sound pretty interesting!! I guess you can just be glad you aren't in the middle of Applied Statistics!
September 30th, 2010
@kerristephens Yeah, although i was pretty good at reading math text books when I was in school. My school days are finished for awhile, but I toy with the idea of going back after I retire. I don't know if my brain will still be able to handle it.
September 30th, 2010
@weshook I'm certain your brain would be able to handle it. You could always start with an art course. Maybe even take a photography class!! After you retire, you won't be taking class to further your career so you can take things that strike your fancy and sound fun!!
September 30th, 2010
@kerristephens True, very true, but I am the kind of geek that would probably enjoy applied statistics. I would like to go and just take whatever interested me and not have to worry about completing a degree program.
September 30th, 2010
@weshook You totally should!! And if applied statistics is what interests you, go for it!!
