However, one of her friends recently told her that real photographers don't edit their photos. I think this may have discouraged her a bit. I think, however, that a real artist can do what they want to express themselves.
This photo is dedicated to my sister, who loves editing.
I recently moved from Tucson, Arizona to Modesto, California.
I finished my Ph.D. in Political Science focusing on American Government and International Relations. I have a...
I started out not editing anything and I can tell you that I have grown dramatically since I started this project by opening myself up to editing and playing in general. We are photographers and can do whatever we want with our images. No one else has to like them. (Though it is awfully nice when they do!)
lI love editing too. There are many kind of photographers and different kind of works and there is a place for all. It is not a case of "either or".
I love this
Love the blues and purples, and the dedication to your sister! The beauty (and challenge) of art is that it is subjective - can you compare a Rembrandt to a Monet to a Pollock? We all have our preferences, but that doesn't make one more of a "real" artist over the other. I hope your sister continues to make her photography "hers"!
Very cool. I was at a photo gallery once that ONLY took photos from people who had used film. They are much more challenging to edit, I suppose. Personally, I praise God for editing, though it does make the whole photography process much longer. But, it allows me to look like I know what I'm doing when in fact, I'm clueless. :-)
Nice dedication and editing. There is a tremendous amount of editing involved in creating a photograph, subject, framing, exposure etc. The greatest photographers played with the raw exposure during developing the negative, exposing the print and developing that print. Much of what is done digitally is in imitation of those techniques developed(pun intended) by the great photographers who this "friend" thinks shot SOOC. Lame!
I believe that their are different forms of art and I like both natural photography and also some photos that have been processed to achieve the artist's vision. As long as it is a deliberate act to achieve a desired effect, I thin it has value. Maybe even the accidental effects have value?
Tell your sister that art is in the eye of the artist and I think editing is an art. (Tell her friend to rain on someone else's parade) Love the colors you CHOSE for this composition.
I think editing is a form of art. Editing has been happening for years using filters, darkroom techniques, hand work, etc. And it takes talent to do it well. It may be a bit easier now than it used to be and more people are able to do it, but it's still a talent. Great pic and great color!
This is a great color change! Even 'professional' photographers 'edit out' red eye... it used to be done with a pencil... now it's done on a computer. I love the freedom editing gives us, whether it be to enhance the color that got bleached out by the flash, or a complete color overhaul, as you've shown in this picture. Photography is art. No artist leaves a canvas blank... as we grow we try different techniques.
Some people can be so discouraging. We have to look past them. They have no creativity at all. A good artist, and photographer are the ones that are free enough to try anything.
I love this shot and the processing. Stunning.
Go her!! (and you too). You're an awesome sister and I have no idea what that person was thinking. Editing is part of the artistic process for the most part--geez! Maybe not all the time, but...geez! This photo is awesome.
Noooooo, not again!
Wait... it's okay. It's only a photograph.
And a good one. For a moment,
I thought I'd gone back to my special place. ;o)
Too many young spirits are crushed by convention. *sigh*
That is very sweet of you to do this for her. I'm doing the project with my two sisters, and it is great to have such a wonderful support system in addition to the 365 community.
That being said, great photo AND editing! =)
I love this
What planet did you shoot this on?
Fun, edited shot!
