I love the view through the columned porch around the Lincoln Memorial. I caught the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial columns alight with the golden glow of the setting sun tonight.
@maggiemae Thank you! The light was almost a little too intense and hard to control in this photo. It's a little bit on the glaring side on the monument, but it was such a warm light for this time of year.
@margonaut Thank you! I'm glad you like it. When I went out for a walk, the cloud cover looked immovable, but then the setting sun broke out magically. I was so glad to see it.
@khawbecker My favorite is really early in the morning there. So peaceful. I might venture over that way tomorrow if we're seeing snow around my lunch hour. Thanks for the inspiration!
@brundagephotos You're welcome. You're right, the snow would be lovely around this memorial. I asked a ranger whether they will be giving Lincoln a wash for his birthday. He said they would, but didn't know when exactly. I'm going to try to find out. I'd love to get a photo of Lincoln getting a bath.
I know exactly where you were standing. I took a photo from that spot, only it was during the cherry blossom festival and there were 900,000 people all over the place and the reflecting pools were closed :( Maybe next time. Great shot!
