This is three of the gallery buildings of the Ohr O'Keefe Museum of Art in Biloxi, MS. Opinions vary wildly regarding the structure, but I like it. It's a bit out of character for the area. The Biloxi Yacht Club, which sits next to it, is a pastel sea-blue Victorian structure. It was closed today, so we didn't get to see anything but the grounds. It's dedicated to the works of George Ohr - the Mad Potter of Biloxi - although they have exhibits by other artists.
This has been primarily a business/family trip, and photography and commenting has been sporadic at best. My apologies to all...
Junko, good catch! This is the work of Frank Gehry. I only used the "can" title because one of my friends referred to the buildings that way. Personally, I think it is brilliant, but opinions locally seem to vary. The museum website refers to "one destination, two American Masters." The first is the potter George Ohr, to whom the museum is dedicated, and the other is Frank Gehry. We won't get to visit again this trip - we leave in the morning - but I'm planning on returning next time we are on the Coast. Sadly, the museum and the Gehry buildings were badly damaged in Hurricane Katrina, but were repaired and the museum reopened.
