Standing tall and strong - kia kaha

The guardian of the marae standing tall, proud and strong to protect the tangata whenua (people of the land and the manuhiri (visitors). The noho marae (sleepover) was a bit of a misnomer -not a lot of sleep was had by some! Kia kana - stay strong and stay awake.
Fascinating carving

Glad I stopped by the Flashback Friday thread. I love seeing photos of home on here. Some days it makes me a bit homesick but that just encourages me to save more so I can jump on a plane and head back :)
