Nature can be cruel. My magnificent black beech tree has been struggling since last year's drought when the water table was so low the roots were in saltwater. It is finally succumbing to the pinhole borer - and soon to the chainsaw! Very sad to see the demise of this tree which was planted by my son 25 years ago.
