Sunbathing
The shag was so happy sunbathing and drying out his wings he didn't bother to fly away. It was quite well camouflaged amongst the branches.

Hmm -not sure they can count on their toes as they re bit webbed! however they do spend a lot of time counting (preening) their feathers. This one had feathers stuck to its beak.

Shags seem to enjoy driftwood logs although I did see a spotted shag the other day perched on its nest on a rocky outcrop.
