Aurora Australis at midnight by kiwinanna

Aurora Australis at midnight

The big bucket list item is finally ticked! A KP6 reading and a 100km round trip was all it took. I am excited to report that this is my very first Aurora Australis capture.
Ok so the tripod suddenly developed a loose screw and it was very windy so I had to hand hold the tripod/ camera during an extra long exposure so hence the stars are trailing and there is a bit of unintentional blur and noise going on but hey - its an Aurora.

Such an exciting day - our grandson Barrett was born at 12.45pm and then at midnight I captured the Aurora Australis also known as the Southern Lights. Both incredible events - Life is Good.
Congratulations!!!!! Just to see it must be amazing, never mind photograph it!

Thank you all for your comments. I think I am addicted now but may need a better camera sensor - and a new tripod of course. (Any excuse)
