What an ordeal - Bullet had a misadventure, most likely a dog. watch the release video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGouGyQk-JQ
TWO months in hospital and finally I got to pick him up and bring him home yesterday. I thought he was a goner a few times, as he did not cope with captivity and narcotic drugs well at all. But this is one amazing young fella, and I hope he stays safe now. He is certainly pleased to be back in his own territory and WILD AND FREE again. Thank you for all the comments here, I appreciate how much you all get involved in my project and passion.
PS - yes that is an ear tag, I now can say I got your number boy ;) Males always have the tag placed in the left ear, and Females in the right ear.
a big welcome home, Bullet.....he is so happy to be there...that video was wonderful & his release back so touching..I can understand your great delight. Fav
Great video - glad you spotted his injury and were able to get him cared for - thank you for posting the video. It was interesting to see him scamper up the tree and also to see the surrounding area. Was that you who released him?
@rickster549 if they are able to just be picked up or grabbed out of a tree, they usually die because it means they are seriously ill or mortally wounded. Makes sense when you think of what they are like healthy!
In this case, he was still climbing and eating at top of a 35 metre tree.
These traps are just brilliant. He did escape the first night when he was actually in a smaller tree, but I think he was able to get across to an adjoining tree that time and out.
Trapping them is far less stressful too, but it did mean I was up and down all night checking the trap as you don't want them stressed and thrashing about in a trap for hours either.
Setting up the traps in long grass on a slope is a mission itself too!
It's all quite a complex process :)
Two months is a terribly long time to be in the hospital ...how wonderful that Bullet is well now and finally home! I am glad that I watched the video knowing that everything came out OK -- It would have been heartbreaking to see his injury and not know if he would be all right! Welcome home, Bullet!
@dsp2 it really is a long time to be in hospital and he really looks like he has been through a harrowing time. I'm sure he will bounce back fast now he is home! it was a bit rough for me waiting without being able to see him and only getting a few reports along the way!
Great focus and a wonderful shot.
