balancing trick

You can't see from here but there is a short bit of branch sticking out the back that Angel is balanced on. Still she is sitting about 20 metres from the ground and not actually holding on in typical arboreal koala style.
As long as the little branch doesn’t give way!

How on earth do they do that! Love the shot.
February 11th, 2020
Do the koalas keep a certain distance apart, so keep to their own territory?? Anjel looks all soft and fluffy
February 11th, 2020
Adorable shot
February 11th, 2020
Lovely shot, looks so soft & cuddly!
February 11th, 2020
@carole_sandford they are very soft yes, but cuddly no :)
February 11th, 2020
@30pics4jackiesdiamond yes they are very territorial and except for mums raising a joey they remain loners and do social physically together. they socialise by leaving scent messages all through the bush however and have a complex colony system.
Each koala has its own home range, but it will overlap with other koalas in the colony.

What a super cuddly pose!

Wonderful environmental 'pawtrait' of Angel - I doubt there's a more comprehensive visual record of Koala life than the one you're creating.

so fluffy and looks so comfortable

Do they ever fall? And if, whats the damage. ?
February 11th, 2020
Wonderful focus and composition. Fav

Their balance is amazing. I always wonder how they do it- even when your pictures clearly show the branches and their grip! Angel sure looks cuddly here. Another great shot!

Love Angel's ears
February 11th, 2020
Dang, that makes me so nervous I can feel the hairs on the back of my neck go up! She's so beautiful!
February 11th, 2020
@pyrrhula healthy koalas don't fall as a rule - but sick ones do, and sometimes fighting koalas throw each other out or limbs break.
if it happens the damage can be serious - broken limbs or head injuries.
it is not something that happens commonly at all - they are truly arboreal :)
