Aaw ! what a big mouth you have got !!! Those two front teeth rally make good tools to shred the leaves from the plant !
October 21st, 2021
Ohh....thought they would have more teeth to crunch up all those tough leaves.
October 21st, 2021
So gummy - I would have thought they had more teeth too.
October 21st, 2021
Wow! Look at those front teeth!
October 21st, 2021

@beryl @cutekitty @christinav @marlboromaam the top incisors are as long as the bottom ones, you just can't see them in this shot. the are not really involved in eating.
because I know koala teeth, I can see the inside edges of the top molars in her mouth and they have a black coating on them which is completely normal for koala molars.
I can also just make out the first molars at the bottom.
koalas have no secondary incisors, so there is a gap between those 2 front teeth and the molars. the molars do all the work grinding the leaf down. 😬

@koalagardens Could you please angle the flashlight so I can get a better look inside there? LOL From this shot, and to a non-expert like me, it looks like Matilda is decidedly short on teeth.
October 21st, 2021
@gardencat I'll try to do a lot better next time 🤣
October 21st, 2021
Fascinating. I can see why they need those good tearing teeth in the front, but then what? I don’t see molars back there. Do they swallow them mostly whole and let the stomach do the rest.
October 21st, 2021
No matter how many teeth it has I wouldn't put my finger in there.
October 21st, 2021
Fun capture.
October 21st, 2021
So sweet, love the two front teeth.
October 21st, 2021
@nodrognai when rescuing them we truly try not to!
