no you don't by koalagardens

no you don't

When I tried first to move the frog out of here, the snake went up the back of the insides of this insect catching box, and next thing the head came out and looked me right in the eye. That caused some choice exclamations, fits of laughter and even after I got off the ladder and stepped away he just stayed there glaring out. worth a watch to see the size of the snake in full https://youtu.be/VrC8CgjdkWk
I'm so lucky to live where I do, never a dull moment!!!
Yikes! Wow! You are brave. Amazing snake portrait.

Or eeeek!

I don't have an innate fear of snakes unless I know it's a poisonous one! Do you know more about this guy? When I'm at a zoo and have the opportunity to stroke one, I think about what people who fear them are missing. They feel to muscular and smooth, but even my Ken has no desire to touch one. I love your photo...nice job under stressful circumstances!

@Weezilou this is a carpet python, really common snakes around here. The can give a bite, but are not venomous and are reasonably docile. I have a daughter who is quite a snake expert and I was actually talking to her on the phone (hands free) when I was having a look and the head came out straight front on looking me in the eye. It was pretty funny.
They are amazing creatures and she was telling me to just grab it, but I wasn't doing that, mostly because it was all coiled up inside and I didn't like the idea of a tug of war.

On top of that, there is a bat story to come yet, it was quite a day :)

Ick, great portrait but a bat and a snake in one day!
April 24th, 2017
Wow, that's some story. Don't think I would want to just reach out and grab it either. Sure wouldn't want it chompin on my hand as I'm about to pull it out. great shot.

@dianen I know right, I'm SO LUCKY!
The bat photos coming soon - a vulnerable species microbat that is so incredibly important for the ecosystem here.
Hey look at it this way too - snake eats the rats, bat eats the mozzies. Yeah bring em on!!! 😂

Awesome close-up ...but whether venomous or not, I would certainly back away from any snake as quickly as possible!

Sam
You are far braver than most of us on 365!!!
April 24th, 2017
@Weezilou I love the feel of snakes too (when I know they are harmless) I have the pleasure of having a huge white python around my shoulders when I was in Malaysia for a holiday.

April 24th, 2017

Wow, that's a big one!
April 24th, 2017
@cruiser @ashks @brillomick yep a surprisingly big snake considering it was all curled up inside that box, let alone with a huge green tree frog. strange things sure can happen if you open your eyes 🤓
@gigiflower bravery or stupidity are often identical lol
