OK weird photo of the year. I had to work with what I had which was a carpet python and a huge pregnant green tree frog in a very confined dark place.
The frog was yelling every now and then, and the snake seemed to have weighed it all up, found it was not going to get it's mouth around the situation so went for a hug instead.
I was going to try and get the frog out but the snake did a few disconcerting things like coming out to stare me in the eye, so in the end I coaxed the snake out.
Snake went back into the garage ceiling (ok now I know where it lives, and to be honest I'm thrilled to have a rat catcher in residence), and I put the cover back on the insect catcher the frog was in, and that the snake had knocked off.
Here is some video of the snake leaving, let's just all him Monty since he is a python. https://youtu.be/VrC8CgjdkWk
That video shows the snake finally leaving.
Waw ! my stomach turned on seeing this and my heart ached for the frog !! weird or what !! So glad the pregnant frog is again safe from the jaws of the python !!
The snake could easily have taken the frog, so it's weird whatever's going on here. Perhaps you arrived just in time! I once had to shake a 7-8 foot carpet snake that had coiled around my kitten. My kitten's poor head was misshapen for days..
@cmsch52 they had been in there together for over half an hour when I took this photo so I'm not sure what was going on either - it gave me a very entertaining Sunday that's for sure :)
@365karly1 well Karly I wouldn't attempt to 'coax' a venomous snake, so I'll start there. I took a wooden stake, just a blunt one and put in one of the hole at the top (see the next photo), at the opposite end to his head and gently stroked him towards the front of the opening. at first he just kept weaving towards me staring me down, but after a bit he decided enough was enough. I then left the area and he stared after me a while longer then left as you see in the video :)
