We’re used to looking up in your photos. You caught one low. Every time I see this bird I get some song from 6th grade (12 years old here) humming through my head....something about a Kookaburra in an old gum tree.
@shutterbug49 nothing like a new perspective ;) I love that this song seemed to have taught the whole world around - don't worry I get that song in my head every single day of my life here at some time or another as they start laughing :)
kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
merry merry king of the bush is he
laugh, kookaburra laugh
kookaburra gay your life must be
When I was in fourth grade, we did group presentations on continents. The group that got Australia showed pictures of koalas, kangaroos, birds and taught that song. Everyone in the class wanted Australia for their group! This is wonderful!
@kchuk love it!
Here when I take Mist's book to schools, the moment you open to the first page with Banjo the kookaburra, children just spontaneously burst out in kookookookaaakaaa and it's deafening but fun!
