I'm doing my own theme this month of birds on the property. A kookaburra is the classic place to start.
I always want to photograph them more, but run out of time. So this month I hope to make more time.
The birds that show off are all in full breeding plumage now, so I hope to get some of the colourful ones showing off their best. Fingers crossed!
@marlboromaam yeah I wake to their laughter every single day, and it never fails to make me smile (and hear a haunting children's song in my head!) they are one of my many favourite birds
Such a lovely shot of this gorgeous bird -- I have always been excited about this bird since a little girl ! but alas have never seen or heard one !! Looking forward to seeing your other native birds !
Great smile on this one! Thanks to 365 a song I sang as a child that I always thought was just a funny rhyme now makes sense- it was about the kookaburra!
@gilbertwood I'm going to try as I certainly have far more than 31 species of bird here. but if I get a cracking shot of a species I've used I will use it. sometimes I may also have the male and female on different days as they can look so different - regent bower birds and wrens for instance are strikingly different.
