Isn't he a stunner?
I have quite a lot of them on the property but they are so shy, getting this took all month. They are incredibly important for the propagation of native bush. They place their eggs inside huge mounds and then leave them warm inside. The eggs hatch and the young are on their own from day one. Nature is so amazing!
He is gorgeous. David was trying to capture a photo of a brush turkey a while and was scrabbling through bushland camera in hand. He said 'It's here somewhere I can hear it' I said 'behind you' and the turkey was following David through the bush.
He is certainly a stunner ! with his red head and frilly golden " bib" ! an interesting fact -- poor chick on its own from day one ! - totally agree Nature is wonderful ! fav
I just never tire of seeing all the wildlife you have around you. So very different than what I'm used to here. This dude looks like he's wearing quite the fancy bib!
is it real? the top doesn't seem to be real, especially the yellow breast. although the legs do look like that of a live turkey. it's colourful, though. aces on your patience and your shot.
You left out the "Bloody" in between Brush and Turkey. We are sworn enemies. They may be important for the native bush but for a suburban garden, they are a bloody pain and I wage a constant battle with them.
