@brigette well I came into the kitchen and he saw me, I saw him and we both froze ... then I very very slowly moved to pick up the camera and got this photo. then I moved a little and he took off 🤗
@pamknowler luckily I love snakes, particularly pythons, such an important part of the ecosystem! I do like our venomous snakes too, but not so keen to see them right at the house (and I rarely have seen a venomous snake near the house) we were both quite mesmerised with staring at each other for what seemed like minutes, but I think it was only some seconds 🤗
@phil_sandford truly? why would he want to kill me? how would he? he is a harmless (to humans) green tree snake, a python so no venom. so very beautiful 🤗
@stevejacob normal height window, these tree snakes can pretty much climb anything, and he was around 2.5 m long - I got nice video of him as he left 🤗
@ninaganci not leaving this paradise - I love living in his backyard. I see snakes reasonably often I suppose in the warm weather. I guess when you live with them you just expect them to be anywhere and grab the camera when they do appear 🤗
Beautiful capture. It is amazing to have eye contact. We have a number of snakes in our area, but I think only the rattlesnake is poisonous. It is shy so as long as we don’t stick hands and feet where we can’t see, it will do its best to stay away. The spiders are more worrisome. The brown recluse put a friend of mine in the hospital.
I really get your excitement at seeing this snake. We have only three types of snake here in the UK, Adder, Grass Snake and Smooth Snake. I’ve only ever seen the first two. Adders are venomous but they only bite when cornered. I’ve been known to go searching for adders, with my camera of course. I’ve seen quite a lot. I’ve rarely seen a grass snake. They’re often seen in water, swimming across areas of still water. I’m desperate for one to find it’s way into our pond. Both adders and grass snakes are very attractive. Talking about snakes makes even more excited about your encounter, it’s a bit like me seeing a rat on the bird feeder right outside the house and grabbing my camera 😂🤣. Please take more snake photos.
time to move home?
