what could they have in common? by koalagardens

what could they have in common?

These 2 have something in common that they don't share with any other marsupial - any idea?
Climbing trees - is that one?

I think it has something to do with their pouches

sweet capture

@phil_sandford no wombats can't climb, they burrow underground, so in that way they are very different 🤓

@oldjosh good try, they face backwards, but that is not the thing that is really similar about them. can you think of anything else?
September 18th, 2021
@beryl oh good for you and you are letting it play out too 👏👏

Common ancestors?
September 18th, 2021
Are they both nocturnal

Nice shot.

As I am an ocean away my knowledge of your animals is scanty, but I do remember having a baby wombat on my lap and its hair was so hard and spiky whereas a koala looks soft and cuddly, and one lives way up in the trees and the other underground so I would never have thought of them being similar. Looking forward to learning what it is

I think you may have given an answer way back when I started 365 . I cant remember ( bad on me) ...something with how they carry the newborns?
September 18th, 2021
I can't think of anything that makes them similar - maybe how much they sleep? This has been a fun series so far, I look forward to these new facts every day

I can't imagine, but then I'm not very familiar with either.
September 18th, 2021
I’m curious to see the answer
September 18th, 2021
Like most, I don't have a clue but am very curious too ;-)

Maybe something about the nose being an identifier like fingerprints. No idea really.

Checking out the landscape. Super capture.
Like Beryl I was too inquisitive so I had to look it up.

So interesting. I'm curious what they have in common, too.
September 18th, 2021
No idea but look forward to what it is. Lovely capture.
September 18th, 2021
Two thumbs??
September 18th, 2021
@30pics4jackiesdiamond good try! wombats actually have no thumbs, maybe the koala stole theirs? 🤣
September 18th, 2021
@gosia yes, they are very close cousins to each other 😊 but ancestors isn't the physical feature I was thinking of ...
September 18th, 2021
They both have Big Bums?
September 18th, 2021
Great shot.
September 19th, 2021
Im glad I know Koalas and wombats are related !
September 19th, 2021
My thought was along the lines of pouches too- and perhaps having to do with the baby needing to climb into it after being born. Now I'll go look it up to see if I was right. Love this shot.
