SO, do they just instinctively know what a toxin smells like? I mean there is the ability to smell a substance but then there is the knowledge of which of those smells means toxic.
Interesting fact -- I suppose all wild animals have this instinct to a certain extent -- ie the birds never touch one certain berry a poisonous berry ) in my garden , in spite of devouring other berries that are non poisonous !
