Monarchs are not native to Australia and I’m so pleased these beautiful butterflies have found another home. Do you know if they migrate as their Canadian/USA/Mexican cousins do?
@jesika2 no they don't need to, the winters are so mild here. I have them on the property all year round.n they are not native, but as they do not predate on our native butterflies I allow milkweed to grow here so that they can multiply as they do help pollinate other flora. we have the lesser wanderer (the monarch is the greater wanderer) which is a native and they live peacefully with the monarch 😊
@koalagardens thank you. I had thought - but could not assume - that they didn’t migrate. Don’t know what the lesser wanderer is - photo please if/when possible
