The Milky Way of Hickory Lake by kvphoto

The Milky Way of Hickory Lake

We can't see the real Milky Way near home due to light pollution. Hickory Lake looks like the Milky Way here in this drone shot taken from directly above. Until we travel to somewhere with a dark sky the Hickory Lake Milky Way will have to suffice.
Beautiful image and reflection. Nice to see drone shots on the site!

@ellida Thanks so much Graham... I sure have enjoyed flying the drone and the morning light has been so nice this time of the year.

@gapandgain Thanks so much Van... I love fall color... this is such a pretty time of the year.

@ludwigsdiana Thanks so much Diana... from my front window I can see the dock in the foreground... but looks so different via a birds eye view.

@monikozi Thanks so much Moni... most appreciated.

@marlboromaam I’m not sure what is floating on the lake... from my front window the lake seems to be covered in pollen... but I’d guess it must be floating leaves.

@samae Thanks so much Sarah... most appreciated!

@craftymeg Thanks so much Meg... I’ve just now gotten brave enough to fly over water... granted... this is a tiny lake.

@jernst1779 Thanks so much Jean... most appreciated!

@koalagardens @k9photo @serendypyty @lynnz @bubblequeen @santina Thanks so much y’all... the light was so spectacular this morning... I was happy to see so much color in the trees.

@kvphoto I say they are star reflections. =)
October 20th, 2020
@marlboromaam I like that... star reflections they are... once I looked at this image on the computer I couldn’t believe how much the lake reminded me of the Milky Way.

@kvphoto There ya go! I added the song to the stellar adventure. LOL!

@tonygig @bkbinthecity @haskar @thewatersphotos Thanks so much for your comments and favs... @thewatersphotos Gary... yes there are restrictions but the Go Fly app informs you where you can/can't fly. For example in my neighborhood I have a max altitude of 394 feet... above that I get notified that I could be in violation of law. I try not to fly anywhere that there are people around since I don't want to annoy anyone... it does make a buzzing sound. Of course you can't fly anywhere near an airport... makes sense.
October 21st, 2020
@dutchothotmailcom forgot to mention... it was likely up about 394' since that is the maximum altitude that I can fly most places nearby.
